When it comes to turning 40, Clarkson is stronger than ever.

“I’m not concerned about it,” the singer said. “My life gets exponentially better each year. Which is what should happen, you should get wiser.”

She continued, “I’m really excited. Everything’s in a good place now.”

Given the monumental birthday, the Kelly Clarkson Show host is ready to do a whole thing.

“I was gonna go low key and then, I just had a really fun time with my girlfriends in San Francisco,” she said. “So, I’m like, maybe I’ll do that again.”

Her current work schedule is packed to the brim, so an extended vacation to somewhere tropical just isnt in the cards right now.

In 2022 alone, Clarkson has legally changed her name, settled her divorce and debuted a new TV show.

Earlier this month, the singer and her estranged husband, Blackstock, settled their divorce with the mother-of-two agreeing to vaccinate their children against COVID-19.

According to the agreement, Clarkson will pay Blackstock a massive one-time payment, and ongoing child support. On a monthly basis, she will pay her ex-husband child support for the couples two children River Rose, 7, and Remington Alexander, 5.

Clarkson began paying Blackstock a total of $45,601 per month, for both children, on February 1.

Catch your breath, Kelly Clarkson fans, because she is turning 40 years old!

Before she rings in her special day on April 24, the Grammy Award-winning singer exclusively shared her birthday plans with E! News after the April 18 episode of NBC‘s American Song Contest.

“I am literally so low-key,” she said. “I know it’s my big 4-0, but I’ve had a crazy two years, so I just wanted a chill birthday.”

A lot has happened within those two years, from working on her daytime talk showThe Kelly Clarkson Show to releasing new music to her recent divorce from ex-husband BrandonBlackstock. So when it comes to her birthday, she simply wants to have a good time with the people she loves.

“I’m going hiking with my friends, and that’s it y’all,” she shared. “And we’re doing a dinner with my band, so that’s it.”

Following her birthday festivities, the “Since You’ve Been Gone” singer will host the first round of American Song Contest semi-finals on April 25 with Snoop Dogg. And With the fates of week five‘s contestants up in the air, Clarkson shared which acts she hopes will make it through.

“I loved Tenelle. I thought that was so cool, so beautiful. The whole performance was beautiful,” she revealed. “I love JohnMorgan. I thought that was a really cool song.”

Another of the artist’s favorites was Michigan singer and week five jury pickAdaLeAnn, who wowed viewers with her original song “Natalie.”

Clarkson’s third studio album, My December, was released on June 22, 2007. The album relied on darker themes and heavier rock music. Clarkson replaced Davis as the executive producer and co-wrote all the tracks. She opted to collaborate with her band members rather than her previous producers and collaborators. Its production and release became a subject of a dispute with RCA, particularly with Davis. He noted the album’s lack of professional production input and wanted her to re-record tracks with a more mainstream appeal, which she refused.
