But you can select the quality, location, and price, which could work out perfectly for one night away.

Have A Board Game Night

Some people may think board games are boring , but they can actually be a lot of fun especially if you have the perfect game and people to play with. Board games have definitely evolved over the years, but there are both classics and modern games that would make for a fantastic game night with families and friends.

I Believe In Creating Memories On My Milestone Birthdays

One year I asked friends to meet me at the front gate of Disneyland. I would pay their entry fee if they did. Not many of my friends took me up on the offer, but for those who did, we had a grand memorable time.

Another time, this one for my 75th birthday, I gave a disco party to celebrate the music of the seventies. I rented a nightclub that was complete with a mirror ball and a brass pole for pole-dancing. I also hired a DJ to spin lots of disco music.

But perhaps one the best birthdays of all was my 65th. I invited 65 people to attend a Mad Hatter Tea party at the Ritz Carlton in San Francisco. The ballroom was lined with green hedges, one long table was decorated with pink flamingos, and a bunch of high school students dressed as characters from Alice in Wonderland interacted with the guests.

Best of all, the hotel provided a huge ornate chair at the end of the table for me to oversee the high tea.

A great way to host a fun birthday party and keep the mess out of your house is to rent a hotel room for the night. Depending on the number of kids in attendance, you can even book adjoining rooms so they can all be together and have fun until the wee hours of the morning . A few ideas:

• Since hotel rooms are typically fairly small, you can make a BIG impression with even a few decorations including number balloons, helium balloons, streamers, etc.
• Make the evening special: Whether the kids venture out for a night on the town or head to the hotel pool and jacuzzi for an evening of fun and laughs, be sure to plan something to keep the kids occupied.
• Chaperone: Depending on the age of the kids, theres a good chance youll need to book a hotel room across the hall just to keep your eye on things and make sure theyre safe. Older teenagers are likely fine on their own and can be dropped off and picked up the next morning.

• I will occasionally move a birthday celebration to a weekend that is NOT the same week as the birthday falls on. You can do this too! Whoever made you think you cannot throw a birthday party whenever you want to hasnt had a birthday next to Christmas.
• Setting a different date will allow for the honoree to be celebrated in a specific time frame, which will feel more special, even if they have to wait a week or so.

• A roll of wax paper and tape or rubber bands. If you dont have any wax paper, thick socks, empty Kleenex boxes, old magazine pages, or even paper plates can make good figure skates.

• Paper and a pen to make score placards. Similarly, you can also make medals out of construction paper if you want to conduct a full ceremony at the end.

Why rent out the local ice skating rink for your party when you can turn the kitchen into one for free? Wax paper figure skating is a fun way for toddlers or kids too small to appreciate the ice to pretend skate, dance, and have a ton of laughs. Sheets of wax paper wrapped around each childs feet combined with a smooth slick floor will allow them to skate around for hours, although having each perform a full skating routine to music and then awarding the winners medals is a great way to take it up a notch.
