Ive been wanting to do a Dr. Seuss themed first birthday for my son since about a month after he was born.
Dr. Seuss stuff isnt easy to find in stores so I got most things online. The night before his party however, I found that Jo-Anns Fabrics sells Dr. Seuss school supplies for teachers, which came in handy for my party.
I had A Sweet Life Photography in Upland California photograph a Dr. Seuss themed cake smashing session to be used for the invitation.

I took this photo of Bresden in our backyard. Bresden is wearing a t-shirt that I created using iron on transfer sheets that I purchased from Michael’s, his shorts are from Kohl’s & I found his Dr. Seuss Converse at Sears months ago . Dr Seuss Birthday Party Book Invitation
These Dr Seuss Birthday party invitations are still one of my most popular and most asked about invitations! I usually get asked if I am willing to sell them. Since I dont want to get in trouble for copyright infringement of any kind I do NOT sell them. The next question I get asked is if Ill share my images and text. I made these specifically for our party and situation, so they wouldnt fit anyone elses party per se. BUT I am willing to share extra pictures and a bit more of HOW I made them with you in hopes that it will help someone!
For the cover: I used this Cat in the Hat image, this blue background and a Dr. Seuss font to create the cover art. I used Microsoft Publisher to create my books, but word or Photoshop would work just as well. I just happen to used publisher a lot and so it was the quickest option for me. I bought and used blank cards from a local craft store, but the measurements of the cards was off just enough that it caused issues. If I was to do them again I would use normal 8.5 x 11 card stock folded in half for my cards. The weird measurements was seriously the most frustrating an time consuming part of the whole project.
The next pages, I think the first one is from Cat in the Hat returns, and the second one is from Cat in the Hat. I choose the first one because it had a cake, and fit with the party theme. The blank erased spot had the birthday girls name .

Dr Seuss Theme Party Decor
The decor is always my favorite part of a party! I usually have one main focus table that I go all out on.
My whole house is stucco on the outside with metal posts and I have found that its very hard to hang anything for parties so I asked my husband to hang a piece of thin plywood, which took two screws that I can later use for all my parties , and I covered it in material by using a staple gun.
This board made it easy to hang the banners, pictures and fluffy tissue balls from.
The frames I got from Michaels and are a very thin wood that I spray painted red.
