Shes Not The Only Singer In The Family

Music played a large part in Dolly Partons upbringing. The family lived in a fairly religious part of the county, the Greenbrier Valley, and singing in church was her earliest public appearance. Dolly began performing at the age of six. She was playing a homemade guitar at age 7 and played her first real guitar at the age of 8. Her mother, Avie Lee Parton, encouraged her children to sing. Dollys sisters Stella, Cassie, and Frieda also singers, as is her brother Randy. Her brother Floyd was a singer as well before he passed away in 2018.

Did you know you can still visit her childhood home? Well, sort of Born in Locust Ridge, TN in 1946, Dolly Parton was the fourth of 12 children. The family didnt have money. In fact, one rumor says that her parents paid the doctor who delivered her with a bag of cornmeal. The family lived in the original version of the Dollywood recreation on Locust Ridge, which is close to the Greenbrier Valley and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park her ancestors one time called home. The area her family lived in the park is now a part of the Old Settlers Trail on Birds Creek. Since so many members of the Parton family lived on Birds Creek, it was known locally as Parton Town.

The one-room cabin in which Dolly Parton was born is no longer accessible to the public, but you can plan a visit to see the replica of the 2-room cabin grew up in. Dolly recreated her 2-room cabin inside her theme park at Dollywood.

A cold front moving through the Gulf states will set off thunderstorms in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Natchitoches may be more recognizable to “Steele Magnolias” fans as the town Chinquapin, where Partons character owned a beauty salon.

Partons birthday will be a warm one in La Grange, Texas, with a high of 76. The average January high for the town made famous by “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” is only 62.

Dolly Lake in Okanogan County, Washington, will be a chilly 34.

Country And Bluegrass Period

Along with Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt, she released Trio to critical acclaim. The album revitalized Parton’s music career, spending five weeks at number one on Billboard’s Country Albums chart, and also reached the Top 10 on Billboard‘s Top 200 Albums chart. It sold several million copies and produced four Top 10 country hits, including Phil Spector‘s “To Know Him Is to Love Him“, which went to number one. Trio won the Grammy Award for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Album of the Year. After a further attempt at pop success with Rainbow , including the single “The River Unbroken“, it ended up a commercial let-down, causing Parton to focus on recording country material. White Limozeen produced two number one hits in “Why’d You Come in Here Lookin’ Like That” and “Yellow Roses“. Although Parton’s career appeared to be revived, it was actually just a brief revival before contemporary country music came in the early 1990s and moved most veteran artists off the charts.

The country music icon commemorated her 76th birthday yesterday by sharing a photo in which she is wearing her birthday suit.

Parton shared the tongue-in-cheek post on Twitter with her 5.3 million followers.

Just hangin out in my birthday suit! wrote the Jolene singer.

While the term is often used as a euphemism for being naked, Partons idea of a birthday suit is very different.

I Will Always Love You

Dolly Parton released I Will Always Love You on her 1974 record Jolene. Inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2007, the song is about Partons decision to become a solo artist. Saying goodbye to her business partner Porter Wagoner, the emotional track reached the number 1 spot on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart twice. The first time was during the records release in June 1974. I Will Always Love You made the charts again when Parton rerecorded it for The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas soundtrack in 1982.

The song found even more commercial success when Whitney Houston put her own spin on it. Recording her own version for the 1992 film The Bodyguard, I Will Always Love You became one of the best-selling singles in history. It spent 14 weeks on Billboard Hot 100 chart. Until 2014, it was also the best-selling single by a female artist. The tracks crossover appeal made it a hit with more than just country music fans.

Today Family Wishes Hoda Kotb A Happy Early Birthday With Surprise Videos

The minute-long video is a pretty amazing tribute and as it turns out, Parton will sing a birthday message for any of her diehard fans.

Earlier this year, the singer partnered with American Greetings to create custom Birthday Time videos for the card brand’s SmashUps Ecard Collection. The series has 1,200 different names to choose from and Parton signed a multi-year deal with the brand that includes digital and physical products that feature her music.

Listening to this sweet birthday message from Parton was surely a treat for Hoda, and she also had plenty of other fun surprises in store on her big day. Over the weekend, the mother of two shared some photos of a virtual party she had with friends and relatives.

Country music icon Dolly Parton is celebrating her 76th birthday today and country stars came out in force to share their memories and wish her a great one.

Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, , Clint Black, Jason Isbell, Tanya Tucker and are among the stars who took to social media to laud the country queen.

McGraw found a particularly funny clip of himself chatting with Parton on his Apple Music radio show from a while back and couldnt resist sharing it.

They were chatting about her acting career and how she fell into characters. Parton told McGraw she only took parts close to her own personality.

Although, I made a better whore than I made a secretary, she quipped at McGraw, referring to her role in Best Little Whore House in Texas.
