Pro #3 Food And Drinks

Wild Birthday Packages

You technically cant bring in outside food or drinks, but the prices arent totally unreasonable if you want to eat on-site.

The pizza is pretty affordable, and they have a buffet spot where kids eat free .

Theres a lot of places to eat within the resort, such as the Mountain Marketplace for coffee and convenience items.

Theres also the Thirsty Miner Restaurant, Grizzlys Grill, Billy Jacks, Firefly Bar and Grill, Coyote Cove, Hidden Trail Restaurant and more.

Sometimes, you can even catch live music at the Firefly Bar and Grill patio.

They also have a bar area within the waterpark so the adults can unwind.

And now for the complaints. In the grand scheme of things, the complaints are very minor. Let me clarify that overall, I was actually quite impressed. But no place is perfect.

Wilderness At The Smokies: Indoor Arcade And Adventure Forest

The indoor waterpark is enormous as it is but its attached to a huge arcade as well. At first glance, it doesnt look big but once you start walking around and looking up you realize how big it really is. Theres a ropes course, mini-golf course, climbing wall, tons of arcade games, a little frogger ride for kids, and even a laser tag course.

You can purchase day passes or buy rides individually and they vary in cost. Arcade games can be played by purchasing points on a card. Arcade games are half price before 10 am so if youve got an early riser, you know where you can go.

The resort also has a paint-your-own-pottery place. My oldest daughter really wanted to do this but we just ran out of time. If you are at the resort for a few days, this could be a fun way to break up your waterpark adventure time.

During the winter, usually starting in mid-November, there is ice skating available at the resort. They convert part of the outdoor wave pool into an ice rink for some festive fun for both guests and the public.

Complaint #1 The Resort Fee

At the time of this writing, there is a mandatory daily fee of $30 for all guests. To their credit, it does mention this on their website.

But unfortunately for me, I missed that when I booked my stay, so I was surprised when I arrived to be immediately hit with another charge.

I understand that amenities cost money, but personally, Id just rather it just be included in the base cost to avoid surprises.

However, Wilderness at the Smokies sometimes offers Groupon specials which can help more than offset that annoying fee. We recommend always checking the Wilderness Groupon listing before booking.

Pro #1 Its Convenient

Theoretically, you could pack up your family, drive them to the Wilderness at the Smokies, never leave the resort and still have a great vacation.

Theres a lot to do here, and it will take a while for your kiddos to get bored. Also, theres just something nice about staying where the action is.

Its not very fun to spend your vacation sitting in traffic.

Guests can ride a water slide in any weather at Wilderness at the Smokies

The indoor waterpark is pretty impressive, and when I was there it didnt feel overly crowded, either.

Theres a surf rider, a wave pool, vortex waterslides and hot tubs, basically everything you could want when you visit a waterpark.

The resort also provides towels for their guests and parking is free. Never underestimate the power of free parking.

The shuttle was extremely convenient

Cozy , countryside suites. Reminds me of the feel of a cabin except inside a hotel.. Our room had a full size kitchen with dishwasher. I was pleasantly surprised to see the kitchen stocked with dishes, pots, pans, and silverware. Hotel staff went above and beyond expectations. Water park was nice and warm. Not too big but plenty of opportunities for fun. Much better price than Gaylord Oprylands new Soundwaves indoor water park. We will definitely be coming back in the future.

Wilderness At The Smokies: Dining

There are several dining options at the resort, most of which have burgers, salads, fries, and desserts. We opted for the buffet dinner at the Thirsty Miner restaurant, which overlooks the indoor waterpark. It was pretty decent for a buffet and we got to try all the desserts, which was a win for the kids.

They have a new Candy Cabin and frozen yogurt place also, both of which are right next to the Thirsty Miner at the indoor waterpark. And for adults, there are lots of options for adult beverages throughout the resort. I saw several huge frozen drinks that grownups were toting around. They looked delicious, I have to say.

The resort also offers food delivery right to your room. Prices are pretty much the same as dining at restaurants so this is a great option if youre totally wiped out at the end of the day. We were pretty beat and I was starving so I dragged my kids to the restaurant .

Wilderness At The Smokies Expansion Provides Something New This Fall/winter

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. Falling temperatures and winters arrival wont put a damper on family vacation fun in the Smokies this year as Adventure Forest, Wilderness at the Smokies new multi-million dollar indoor fun park, celebrates its first fall and winter seasons entertaining guests. Adventure Forest provides families with climate-controlled indoor entertainment options, including mini-bowling, a 23 climbing wall, black light mini-golf and more, to complement the resorts already famous indoor water park.

Adventure Forest doubles the number of indoor amenities at the year-round destination, nestled in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. Currently, the Wild WaterDome indoor waterpark provides acres of indoor water attractions for visitors, but with this addition of the new Adventure Forest family adventure center, guests will have a dry option when staying at the resort.

There is absolutely nothing like Adventure Forest anywhere in this region, said Steve Cruz, General Manager of Wilderness at the Smokies. If it were a stand-alone attraction, it would be an amazing addition to the local tourism market but when combined with everything Wilderness already offers on property, we have further cemented ourselves as the premier year-round destination in the Smokies.
