Toby Keith Happy Birthday America

Democracy Is In Danger

Toby Keith – Happy Birthday America (Official Lyric Video)

Keith said in an interview with Fox News, I live in the heartland and it just feels like everybody you talk to has the same worries. It just feels like the politicians arent getting the job done on either side and it just feels like the democracy is in danger.

This song should serve as a wake up call that we need to get things in order.

Toby Keith has been a proud and optimistic American. You can tell how much Toby Keith loves America.

This song takes a sad turn for someone who always puts his patriotism on stage.

Toby Keith wrote another patriotic song after two tragic events the death of his father, veteran Hubert Keith Covel and the terrorist attacks on 9/11.

He wrote Courtesy of the Red, White And Blue in about 20 minutes and the song was a big hit for him.

You can listen to that song right here:

Toby Keith Said He Wrote The Song While On The Back Of A Boat

On first listen, Happy Birthday America sounds like its about current events. And Keith confirmed to Fox News that he actually wrote the song in June 2020 while vacationing on a boat. He also said that he felt the United States was on a decline.

I live in the heartland and it just feels like everybody you talk to has the same worries, he said. It just feels like the politicians arent getting the job done on either side and it just feels like the democracy is in danger.

The release of this song coincides with his other latest song, Old School, which features Grammy winner Maren Morris.

Toby Keith Sings Happy Birthday America Whatevers Left Of You

The lyrics to Happy Birthday America arent suggesting that America is great. Instead, they suggest Americas best days are behind it.

The lyrics France would just be part of Germany now/If it hadnt been for you refers to Americas glory in World War I and World War II. But he follows it up with Now your children want to turn you into something other than yourself / They burn your flag in your city streets more than anybody else. This seems to suggest that Keith isnt happy with the current protests, some of which involve flag-burning.

And to further illustrate that he believes Americas best days are behind it, Keith sings the chorus, Seems like everybodys pissin/On the red, white, and blue/Happy birthday America/whatevers left of you.

Lyrics Of Happy Birthday America

The first verse refers to the greatness of American history, specifically within the context of the two World Wars. The United States emerged victorious from both, most notably the latter.

In fact Keith tersely points out that if not for Americas intervention in said conflict, France would just be a part of Germany now. And those who are actually learned in what went down during WWII can attest to the fact that verily for a moment there, Germany had more or less bested its southwestern neighbor. But the inferred point would also read like the United States being a superpower has allowed entire nations to remain free.

Thus it bothers the vocalist, as revealed in the second verse, that now many of Americas own citizens have turned against her. Indeed theyre burning their countrys flag on the streets, so on and so forth. In fact, it would appear that they detest their homeland more so than any other place on Earth.

Who are you going to call when trouble comes?

And whereas it might seem strange to be talking about WWII one moment and civil protests in 2020 the next, it seems that Keith makes the connection at the beginning of the third verse. And what he is asking these individuals is who are they going to call if they too find themselves in trouble like France during the 1940s?

Indeed he has concluded that unless God Himself intervenes, such is exactly whats bound to happen given its current trajectory.

Keith isnt talking about Americas Destruction in a Literal Way

Story Behind The Song

Happy Birthday America

Written by Toby Keith himself, Happy Birthday America doesnt fight for what makes our country great quite like some other patriotic songs. Instead, the poignant new single finds Keith examining the countrys condition as well as its citizens perception and what the world might look like without the United States.

Keith indicates the theme of American exceptionalism may now be a hallmark of the past as he highlights achievements made in World Wars I and II. In fact, during Election Days, Keith even said hes often left feeling disheartened having to choose the lesser of two evils.

Keith revealed that he was inspired to pen the song while watching a fireworks display on a boat last year, and one of his friends wished him a happy Fourth of July to which he replied with, Happy birthday, America. Whatevers left of you.

It had been a screwed-up 18 months, Keith reflected as he watched both parties concern over democracys end. He pondered on Charlie Daniels song that says, God save us all from religion, which made him realize that if we need Gods saving, it should be from politicians.

This is just one of the many patriotic Toby Keith songs the country star has released all through the course of his career. Keith has never shied away from expressing his love for America, and it is evident in his earlier hits like American Soldier,Made in America, and definitely the most popular one, Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue.

Kate Bush Running Up That Hill Lyrics

It doesnt hurt me Do you want to feel how it feels? Do you want to know, know that it doesnt hurt me? Do you want to hear about the deal that Im making?

Its you and me

And if I only couldId make a deal with GodAnd Id get him to swap our placesBe running up that roadBe running up that hillBe running up that buildingSay, if I only could, oh

You dont want to hurt me But see how deep the bullet lies Unaware, Im tearing you asunder Ooh, there is thunder in our hearts Is there so much hate for the ones we love? Tell me, we both matter, dont we?

Its you and meIts you and me, wont be unhappy

And if I only couldId make a deal with GodAnd Id get him to swap our placesBe running up that roadBe running up that hillBe running up that building Say, if I only could, oh

Its you and meIts you and me, wont be unhappy

Oh come on, baby Oh come on, darling Let me steal this moment from you nowOh come on, angel Come on, come on, darlingLets exchange the experience

Toby Keith Wonders If The United States Better Days Are Behind It In Happy Birthday America

At first glance, Toby Keiths new song Happy Birthday America may look like a holiday weekend lark, a jingoistic U-S-A! anthem akin to his post-9/11 release Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue . But the Oklahoma songwriter is actually reckoning with the countrys longevity from which viewpoint, liberal or conservative, depends on whos listening.

Seems like everybodys pissin/on the red, white and blue/happy birthday America/whatevers left of you, he sings in the first verse, alluding to both criticism of the country and its far from certain future.

More from Rolling Stone

To Keith, the nations greatness American exceptionalism is a theme of the song may be a hallmark of the past, especially for nations who might have relied on the country to lead the way. Who they gonna count on/when youre not there to take their call?/Will the world keep right on spinnin/without the greatest of them all? he asks.

Theres other allusions that suggest in which direction Keith is leaning , but he upends any perceived certainty about his politics in the bridge by calling out by the left and the right. On Election Day, Keith says hes left feeling dejected.

Every time I go to town and vote/I just come home with the blues, he laments. The lesser of two evils/all we ever get to choose.

Toby Keith “Happy Birthday America” – Fox & Friends Performance

You know Ive always got your back, girlSo let me be the one you come running to, running to, runningI see its just a matter of fact, girlYou just call my name, Ill be coming throughComing through, Ill keep comingOn the other side of the world, it dont matterIll be there in two, Ill be there in two, Ill be there in twoI still feel it every time, its just something that you doNow ask me why I want to

Its everything about you, you, youEverything that you do, do, doFrom the way that we touch, babyTo the way that you kiss on meIts everything about you, you, youThe way you make it feel, new, new, newLike every party is just us twoAnd theres nothing I could point toIts everything about you, you, you Everything about you, you, you Its everything that you do, do, do Its everything about you

Toby Keith Releases Patriotic ‘happy Birthday America’ Song For Fourth Of July

Toby Keith is sharing even more new music this month, releasing the patriotic song “Happy Birthday America” ahead of the Fourth of July holiday this weekend. Keith’s new song examines the state of the country and its perception by its citizens, as well as what the world might look like without the United States.

“Happy birthday America / It’s the Fourth of July,” he sings. “I’ll get to wake up in your freedom / But sometimes I wonder why / Seems like everybody’s pissin’ on the red, white and blue / Happy birthday America / Whatever’s left of you.” According to iHeartRadio, Keith was inspired to write the song while on a boat watching a fireworks display last year. When a friend wished him a happy Fourth of July, the singer responded, “Happy birthday, America. Whatever’s left of you.”

“It had been a screwed-up 18 months,” he reflected. “I was seeing both sides having concern over the end of democracy. We’ve fought and divided almost to the point it’s only about power and winning. Charlie Daniels had a song saying ‘God save us all from religion.’ And I’m thinking, ‘God save us all from politicians.'”

Lyrics Happy Birthday America

It is the Fourth of July

I get to wake up in your freedom

But sometimes I wonder why

Seems like everybody’s pissin’

On the red, white and blue

Happy birthday America

You were the darlin’ when you saved the world

WW I and II

France would just be part of Germany now

If it hadn’t been for you

Now your children wanna turn you in

To something other than yourself

They burn your flag in their city streets

More than anybody else

It is the Fourth of July

I get to wake up in your freedom

But sometimes I wonder why

Seems like everybody’s pissin’

On the red, white and blue

Happy birthday America

Who they gonna count on

When you are not there to take their call?

Will the world keep right on spinnin’

Without the greatest of them all?

Without the helping hand of God

Your days are numbered, my old friend

We are sure gonna miss you, girl

You were the best that is ever been

Happy birthday America
