Inexpensive Diy Yard Signs
Ive seen yard signs like these pop up in neighborhoods and schools to celebrate different occasions. They can be pricey, but you can create your own DIY yard signs for under $20 that will look fantastic and make someones day.
You can make these inexpensive, DIY yard signs for:
- birthdays
Materials to Construct the Letters:
- Measuring Tape
- White Foam Boards
- T Square Tool
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Pack of Bamboo Skewers
- Duct Tape
Materials to Decorate the Letters:
- Paint
- Bingo Markers
- Glitter
First, use the measuring tape to determine the length and height of your foam board. The board I used was 30×20.
Next, determine how wide you want the lines of your letters to be. I made the lines of my letters approximately 3 1/2 4 wide.
Use a T square tool, ruler, or a measuring tape to form straight lines on the foam board OR draw bubble letters and dont worry about the letters being straight or exact!
Then, put your foam board on top of a surface that is safe to cut on. We put an old cardboard box under ours.
Use a utility knife to cut out your letters.
Once your letters are cut out, its time to decorate them. This is my favorite part! The foam board is sturdy enough that you can apply a light coat of spray paint on them for a quick solid color. Tip: Tape your letter to the cardboard so it doesnt blow away while you are spray painting.
You can also use bingo markers to make polka dots or glitter to make your letters shimmery.

Made of Coroplast or Corrugated Plastic, the two foot tall alphabet plastic letters for the lawn, numbers, and Yard Card characters are machine cut and made of vibrant colors. The characters have a colorful digitally printed and laminated vinyl skin attached to it for extra durability and character. Additional characters, with direct to coroplast prints, are available in our products as well either laminated or not laminated.
