As the name suggests, this is a Bottled In Bond, meaning the bourbons were distilled and produced under well-regulated conditions.
This is pretty spicy relative to the proof. It has warm notes of chewy caramel, smooth vanilla latte, brown sugar, and hints of cherry.

The Old Forester 100 Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky is one of the brands oldest bottles. The 100-proof version is barely filtered with water.
We love the warmth emanating from this Old Forester bourbon. It has classic notes of rich caramel, warm vanilla, and baking spices, further enhanced by a buttery texture and hints of sweet cherry.
The dram has a medium-length finish with oak and spice notes.

The annual release of the birthday bourbon is always highly anticipated. The Brown-Forman company releases a birthday bottle every September to celebrate their founder George Browns birthday month.
Its a different juice every year, so its pretty exciting if you can get your hands on one, that is.
The 2020 edition was pulled from 95 barrels with an age statement of 10 years. This small batch dram is fruit-forward, rife with syrupy notes of blackberries, cherries, and raspberries.
The tartness is balanced out with rye spice, vanilla cream, caramel, and hints of black pepper. But how long does bourbon need to be aged?

Four Roses Limited Edition Small Batch
Four Roses annual limited-edition offering is set for a September 17 national release of 14,100 bottles. Master Distiller Brent Elliott selected fourteen-, fifteen-, and twenty-year-old stocks of four recipes from the ten the distillery produces for this years blend, which is bottled at 109 proof and touts tasting notes of creamy vanilla, clove, and allspice.
Comparable Taste: Four Roses Small Batch Select
While not boasting the age or the one-and-done nature of the limited-edition release, Small Batch Select embodies the nuanced flavor and mellow presentation Four Roses is known for. The bourbon is blended from six recipes, each aged at least six years, and bottled at 104 proof, with a similar interplay of sweet aromatics and spicy undertones.
Tiers Of Allocated Bourbon
I have ranked these bourbons based on how hard it is to find and obtain. Obviously, these may vary regionally, according to the season and the total amount of bottles sold. And realistically, some brands are more coveted then others.
Youll see that many Buffalo Trace items are listed as Tier 1 items, but thats just the way it is with as many fans that BT has.
Tier 3 Allocated bottles that are somewhat easy to find and could be found on a shelf in most cases.
These are dependable annual releases with most having multiple releases per year.
Tier 2 The difference between Tier 3 and 2 is that Tier 2 items are typically more expensive and may only be released once a year.
Also, Ill include distillery-only releases in here as well because unless you live in Kentucky, then its not fair.
Tier 1 These are the hardest to find allocated bottles and the ones that command the highest secondary prices.
Youll realistically not find these bottles on the shelf. Youll always have to know somebody to get them.

The annual release of Old Foresters Birthday Bourbon marks an important moment on the calendar for bourbon collectors. This year, however, the celebration looks a bit different.
Old Forester enthusiasts will no longer be able to simply purchase the coveted bottle at the distillery, according to an emailed Aug. 12 press release. A nationwide sweepstake will instead give select individuals the opportunity to purchase the 2022 expression of the release. A bottle will then be reserved for each winner at the Louisville distillery.

To be honest, we found its palate a bit lackluster compared to their other bottles, but itll work extremely well in cocktails.

The whiskey was pulled from a lone barrel personally hand-picked by the Master Distiller.
This dram is much more easy-going yet still retains the Single Barrels depth and richness. It has a perfect balance of salted caramel, sweet vanilla, citrus notes, and black pepper spice on the palate.
This Old Forester bourbon is an instant crowd favorite and one of our favorite expressions from the brand.
Littlemill 250th Anniversary 45 Year Old

The Loch Lomond Group extends its series of collectible releases from Littlemill, the closed Lowlands distillery officially established in 1772. This is the oldest release from Scotlands oldest licensed distillery. Michael Henry, master blender for Loch Lomond Group, took Littlemill whisky from a single distillation on October 4, 1976 that had been recasked into American oak hogsheads in 1996, and finished it for 6 months in first-fill oloroso sherry hogsheads.

This whisky was double distilled in Littlemills straight neck pot stills, which were designed to give a triple distilled character to this Lowland single malt, similar to the straight neck pot stills in use at Loch Lomond Distillery today. For this 250th anniversary release, Littlemill has partnered with photographer Stefan Sappert. Each presentation case, fashioned to look like a Victorian bellows box camera, contains a signed silver-on-black photographic plate by Sappert.
The Loch Lomond Group are custodians of the last casks from Littlemill.
