Toby Keiths Cancer Diagnosis
In early June 2022, Toby Keith revealed his cancer diagnosis. However, recently, he warned fans about fake updates regarding his health. According to reports, imposters of Keiths accounts have been using Keiths name to provide falsified updates.
He took to Twitter to clarify the issue.

We are aware of the many imposter profiles claiming to be Toby on social media, Toby Keiths Twitter said in a statement. But its come to our attention that some of these accounts are now posting falsified updates regarding Tobys health. We are working to get these removed.
Any updates will come directly from Tobys verified social media pages. Next, the post went on to state Toby would never personally request money. Then, the account informed victims of those fake accounts to report them to the platform.
Keith canceled his 2022 tour dates after revealing his diagnosis. He was diagnosed in 2021. He stated he received chemo for a six-month period. Keith will continue updating fans from his verified profiles.

On first listen, Happy Birthday America sounds like its about current events. And Keith confirmed to Fox News that he actually wrote the song in June 2020 while vacationing on a boat. He also said that he felt the United States was on a decline.
I live in the heartland and it just feels like everybody you talk to has the same worries, he said. It just feels like the politicians arent getting the job done on either side and it just feels like the democracy is in danger.
The release of this song coincides with his other latest song, Old School, which features Grammy winner Maren Morris.
Toby Keith Sings Happy Birthday America Whatevers Left Of You
The lyrics to Happy Birthday America arent suggesting that America is great. Instead, they suggest Americas best days are behind it.
The lyrics France would just be part of Germany now/If it hadnt been for you refers to Americas glory in World War I and World War II. But he follows it up with Now your children want to turn you into something other than yourself / They burn your flag in your city streets more than anybody else. This seems to suggest that Keith isnt happy with the current protests, some of which involve flag-burning.
And to further illustrate that he believes Americas best days are behind it, Keith sings the chorus, Seems like everybodys pissin/On the red, white, and blue/Happy birthday America/whatevers left of you.

Story Behind The Song
Written by Toby Keith himself, Happy Birthday America doesnt fight for what makes our country great quite like some other patriotic songs. Instead, the poignant new single finds Keith examining the countrys condition as well as its citizens perception and what the world might look like without the United States.
Keith indicates the theme of American exceptionalism may now be a hallmark of the past as he highlights achievements made in World Wars I and II. In fact, during Election Days, Keith even said hes often left feeling disheartened having to choose the lesser of two evils.
Keith revealed that he was inspired to pen the song while watching a fireworks display on a boat last year, and one of his friends wished him a happy Fourth of July to which he replied with, Happy birthday, America. Whatevers left of you.
It had been a screwed-up 18 months, Keith reflected as he watched both parties concern over democracys end. He pondered on Charlie Daniels song that says, God save us all from religion, which made him realize that if we need Gods saving, it should be from politicians.
This is just one of the many patriotic Toby Keith songs the country star has released all through the course of his career. Happy Birthday America Calls Out Both Sides
Keith is often a musician affiliated with the political right in the United States. And the lyrics to Happy Birthday America also recalled the two Bush presidencies fondly.
But Happy Birthday America, according to Keith, calls out both sides of the political aisle. Whats more, despite his conservative fanbase, he said hes neither a fan of Donald Trump or Joe Biden. They kind of disowned me when I started supporting the troops, then I went and registered independent, he said. Ive never been a registered Republican. It just keeps people off balance. They dont know what to think.

The first verse refers to the greatness of American history, specifically within the context of the two World Wars. The United States emerged victorious from both, most notably the latter.

And what he is asking these individuals is who are they going to call if they too find themselves in trouble like France during the 1940s?
Indeed he has concluded that unless God Himself intervenes, such is exactly whats bound to happen given its current trajectory.

Toby Keith has created the soundtrack for Independence Day, with a selection of his most patriotic tracks including his 2021 track Happy Birthday America. The song acts as both the guiding force and the title for the new playlist.
The playlist opens with the title song, taken from his latest album, Peso In My Pocket, along with a handful of other on-theme Keith tracks. Elsewhere on the track list are songs from some of the country icons favorite musicians, including Merle Haggard, James Brown, Jason Aldean, and Keith Urban.
Im standing on the back of one of a thousand boats tied together on the Fourth of July, 2020. A local radio station is blaring from every one of them because they synchronize the music with the fireworks, Keith said. He continued, Sure enough, Im the third song. Everybody on the lake is singing, boats are honking and its been a really screwed up year. My buddy looks at me and says, Happy Fourth of July, big dog. I said, Happy birthday, America. Whatevers left of you. And then I was like, I need to write that.
