What To Do For Your Child’s 13th Birthday
Ah, the awkward age of thirteen, the cocoon stage of your little caterpillar’s road to becoming a butterfly. Your child has changed a lot the last year or so! They just recently started secondary school and may be starting to go to their first teenage discos! Yikes! They may want to feel more grown up and sophisticated for their 13th birthday and the regular ‘kiddies party’ may not cut it anymore. Here’s some ideas…
Birthday Party: Donut Miss This
A donut-themed party is a teen-friendly way to celebrate!
Serving donuts at the party is obvious, but why not think outside the box?
Set a sweet tone for your guests with an unexpected invitation!
Leave a donut in a bag on each guests doorstep. Attach a printed out or handwritten invitation with party details to the top. This fun gesture is not only delicious, its memorable.
Donuts also make for handy and inexpensive party decorations.
Simply tie a string around each donut and get creative– hang them from a kitchen chandelier make a wreath of donuts and attach it to the front door adorn the fireplace with them…
Yes, I can hear you thinkingWhat will the kids do?
Here are some activities to occupy them:
- Design the best donut t-shirt ever! Get some t-shirts and puffy paint or Sharpies and let them adorn it with their favorite flavor
- Guess how many munchkins are in the jar
- Compete blindfolded to try and be the first to gobble up one of the donuts above their head. Simply tie donuts to a ~6 length of rope that is being held by parents or other helpers.
Do-nut be worried, you got this…and I promise, you will make it through the teen years!
Adopt A Shelter Party Theme
I suggest an animal themed party where the guests bring gifts for the local adoption group or animal shelter. You can contact a group ahead of time and feature photos of the recipients of the gifts, so the guests can buy their gifts for a specific group of dogs or cats.
I think the attendees will get great satisfaction that they made a difference. This is the perfect age to start teaching children there is more than me, me, me.Karen

Volunteer For Something You Care About
Instead of cashmere sweaters and gift certificates, ask your loved ones to take part in helping a cause thats close to your heart. It could be volunteering at a soup kitchen, building a playground for an underserved community or tutoring children. You can even volunteer virtually these days. Whatever it is, you and your crew can make a difference .

Build A Fort And They Will Come
Building a fort in the basement for the girls to have a slumber party was the best idea ever!
We attached blankets, sheets, fabrics, and Christmas lights to the ceiling, walls, and furniture. There was even a long tunnel between the furniture to use as an entrance. Pillows, stuffed animals, deck of cards, and some electronics made it a place the kids didnt want to leave.

Birthday Party Ideas For Teens That They’ll Actually Like
Your big kid might not be into balloon animals and superheroes anymore, but birthdays are still a big deal for teens. Take off some of the pressure with one of these party ideas perfect for every type of teenager.
Ah, how simple birthdays were when your kid was little. As long as you invited their favorite people, blew up a few balloons, and provided a cake, they were happy. Sadly, though, those days are gone.
Now that your cute kid has turned into a teenager, they’re most likely a little harder to impress thanks to puberty, peer pressure, and probably TikTok if we had to guess. Add the fact that sharing your birthday party on Instagram is almost as important to teens as the party itself, and that amounts to a lot of pressure on party-planning parents. Desperate for some inspiration? Whether your kid is a foodie, an adrenaline junky, or shopaholic, these party ideasproven to have your teen smiling instead of rolling their eyesare a great place to start.

Design And Creative Stuff
For girls, the decoration and arrangement of their space become quite relevant. Functional things related to design will become the favorite for the birthday girl.
For example, a table lamp of an original form will decorate a writing corner and give a special charm to the workplace. An interesting form of decorative pillows will find their permanent place on a bed or sofa. Aromatic lamps in addition to essential oils will help you relax after a hard school day.
Night lights with the function of the starry sky can not only illuminate the room with a dim light but also be a morning alarm clock with melodies for every taste.
Throw A Paintball Party
Teens can run around and let off steam during a paintball battle. Make sure you choose a company that doesn’t mix up the teams so that you can be sure your kids will only play with their own group. Then head to a family-friendly restaurant afterward to fuel back up with pizza or wings.
Location: A local paintball site
Ideal age: 14th birthday and up
Things to remember: Tell kids to come wearing a few layers of clothes as paintball hits can hurt. You’ll also want to make sure you have confirmed RSVPs as you’ll be expected to pay even if there are no-shows.
Cost prediction: Groups of eight or more often receive a discount, but expect to pay anywhere up to $300 for an afternoon of paintball fun for your teen and their friends
Number of guests: 8

Year Old Birthday Party Ideas For A Boy
For a birthday boy, an interesting idea for a twelfth birthday is to stylize the holiday like fantasy works, for example, The Lord of the Rings. Clothing, home decoration, festive table menu should correspond to the theme of the festive event.
Several competitions on the topic of the work will come in handy. Guests of the holiday can be accepted into the fraternity of the ring, the head of which will be the birthday man, make up some kind of comic oath for acceptance into the fraternity, and the like.
Any creative task is perceived by children of twelve years of age with delight and great enthusiasm. Give your daughter and her friends a master class on beading, soap making, or sushi making. Present your sons a board game Monopoly or Mafia, playing which with friends, he can have fun on his birthday. A photo session with friends and shooting a music video with the birthday boy in the lead role will complement the festive event.

How To Pull Off A Surprise Party
We went back and forth on ideas, but ultimately we told them that there was a mother daughter pool party for our church congregation. Our girls didnt seem to think that was odd, so yay! It is always best to go with an easy believable story when you are trying to surprise a teenager. Another piece of advice to pulling off a surprise party is to keep it a secret for as long as you can. I didnt even tell my daughter about the faux mother/daughter party until that morning.
Also, be careful who you tell! And make sure everyone you do tell knows it is a surprise. I was very happy that my 9-year-old was able to keep the secret, I was worried!
It is also good to have a stall tactic planned. Even with all the rushing around that the pool party entailed, I was actually running early! So when I picked up my daughter, I made a trip to another friends house and chatted with her on her porch to get us back on schedule. My daughter waited in the car, suspecting nothing.
We picked up Janell and Cheyenne and headed to the pool. Our husbands and sons were waiting at the pool with their friends. And they were watching our every move on the LIFE 360 app. I love that I can keep tabs of my family with that app! Technology makes it a lot easier to get the big surprise cheer timed perfectly.
Have A Movie Marathon
My daughter loved movie/TV marathon sleepovers. Start the party around 7:00 p.m. and allow the girls ample time to spread out their sleeping bags, change into pajamas, and claim a plate of finger food before starting the movies or TV episodes.
Plan at least five hours of movies.
Serve a light and simple breakfast the following morning, ideally something that can sit for several hours as the girls will wake at all different times. Have the other parents retrieve their daughters around noon.Elsie in North Texas
