Creating A Furry Friend
I loved how the Build-A-Bear Party host got the children involved in the building process by waking the bear up from hibernation so that it could be stuffed. The kids were encouraged to throw the bears around and stretch and massage them so that they were ready to be made into a real furry friend.
They were then all seated in a circle and were kept occupied in a game of pass the bear until it was their turn. Each child went up to the stuffing machine and helped create their own bear using a foot pedal which stuffed the bear with filling. Once their bear was full, they were given a heart which they were told to rub against their own heart so that the bear will always feel their love. It was so uplifting to watch all the kids kissing the hearts and knowing that they will always have a special bond with the bear.
Once everyones bear was filled and had a heart they gave their bear a scrub down so that they were clean and ready to choose a t-shirt to keep their bear warm. There was a fantastic selection of t-shirts on offer and all the kids easily found something they were happy with.

Once enrolled in the rewards program, guests will be notified via email by June 21 if they are among the 200,000 guests in the U.S., U.K. and Canada to receive a winner ticket. John said the 200,000 tickets was how much the companys data showed the companys staff could accommodate.
The notification includes a barcode they can print out or take to a Build-A-Bear store on a device to be scanned. When registering for the promotion, a parent can use one ticket for up to two children.
This year the promotion lasts for five days from June 24 through June 28. Last year, the sale in July was a single-day promotion and some customers waited in line for up to seven hours. Other stores, overwhelmed by hundreds of people awaiting the sale, shut down before they opened, citing safety concerns.
To avoid that catastrophe, Build-A-Bear is staggering guests in three-day windows to visit the store. Guests with winning tickets will be assigned a date range to visit their Build-A-Bear store: June 24-26 or June 26-28.
The stores all will be appropriately staffed, John said.

First things first, all of our party guests got to pick out the Build-A-Bear of their choice! We had 3 boys, and 3 girls who all found something they loved! The kids loved that they got to run around and pick out whatever Build-A-Bear they wanted! Our party host, Jen told the kids they could be as loud as they wanted, which to a group of kids, is one of their favorite things to hear haha!
After all the kids had picked out the Build-A-Bear of their choice, it was time to line and up and become the Build-A-Bear Party Train! The train was a great way for the kids to make noise and have fun, and it was a great way for us parents to keep all the kids together and on the same page. The kids got to show off by making their best train sounds while chugging around the whole store to each station while making their Build-A-Bear!
Our next stop was over to the special corner where each party guest got to choose a Heart for their Build-A-Bear and making the Build-A-Bear Pledge where the promised to love their Build-A-Bear and make a special wish! The kids loved this part, and had a great time learning the pledge, and putting their Build-A-Bears heart in. This was also a chance for our Party host Jen to play some fun games with the kids like Simon Says!
How cute are those? Jaiden has 4 of these at home that she tucks her Build-A-Bears in at night time, and she has colored them to make them her own!

How Much Is It To Add A Scent To A Build
Scents can be added to a Build-A-Bear stuffed animal for an additional $3.
One of the things you can do to make your Build-A-Bear more special and personal is to add a scent of your choosing.
You can choose from a variety of options.
The scents come in the form of hard pieces of plastic that are shaped like different objects.
Sometimes the shapes are random, and sometimes they match the scent.
When you make your bear, you can choose the type of scent you want to add to the bear and then put it inside when you stuff it.
Build-A-Bear does not require a scent, but it is an option for all customers.
Build-A-Bear scents are designed to last for at least six months.
Since they are put inside the stuffed animals with the stuffing, the scent comes from the inside out whenever the animal is moved or hugged.
Some scents are stronger than others and might be more apparent longer or may simply last longer.
The more a bear is played with or hugged, the faster the scent will wear down.
Washing the Build-A-Bear animals can also make the scent disappear faster.
Build-A-Bear Scents can be replaced when they lose their fragrance, but you will need to take your animal back to your nearest Build-A-Bear store and buy a new scent.
The bear can be opened up, and the new scent can be added to replace the original.
If your Build-A-Bear has a scent inside and you notice it is fading, the best thing you can do is to play with the bear less or squeeze it less.

Has Anyone Had A Build
We are thinking of doing this and just wondered what your experience was like.
Hello! When my kids were younger, we went to a TON of Build-a-Bear parties. Pluses: the parents of the guest kids can wander off to a nearby bookstore or coffee shop for a couple of hours. Each kid gets a bear to take home. Minuses: Depending on the staff, very little care and attention might be paid to every kid except for the birthday boy/girl. Limited selection. Churn-em-out, factory-style parties. Store still open to other customers which equals confusion every single time.
I’d say, try to observe how they work in the Build-a-Bear nearest you. The staff makes all the difference. I personally thought they were pretty bad because the staff at the one we kept going to had no love for it and were very mechanical.
Did the parties you went to have a dollar limit for the kids to spend? I’m thinking the basic $12 bears and a shirt for each to wear, which will be about $20 a kid.
What Is Count Your Candles
Once you’re signed up, you’re eligible for the Build-A-Bear Count Your Candles birthday deal. All you need to do is bring your child in to any Build-A-Bear Workshop store in Canada during their birthday month, and they’ll get to take part in a really special birthday cele-BEAR-ation.
Once you’re there, your child will get to “count their candles” until they reach the age they’re turning and that’s what you’ll pay for a Birthday Treat Bear! No proof of age or identification is needed, but a registered Build-A-Bear Canada Bonus Club member must be there.
A Birthday Treat Bear usually costs $14, and they’re only available in stores while quantities last. The minimum price is $1 , and it’s open to children under 14 years of age.
That’s not the only perk, though. When you bring your child in to celebrate their birthday, they’ll also get all this :

The Build-A-Bear Workshop Party packages range in value to suit any budget- from the Super Smiles package at only R179 per guest , to the Ultimate Celebration Range valued at R499 per guest where they get a furry friend up to the value of R299 and they can select any outfit, sound or scent of their choice.
I selected to go for the Super Smiles package as I was happy that they would still come away with a great quality toy where they get an R199 bear and t-shirt for only R179, which I thought was fantastic value.

Once you have selected and booked a Build-A-Bear Workshop, you are able to create fun invites on their website to send to your party guests to get everyone into the party spirit. We chose to have the party at Tyger Valley, Durbanville as its local to us, and we all love the mall. The venue is in the centre of the shopping centre and Build-A-Bear has branches in Cape Town, Gauteng and Kwa-Zulu Natal.
Build-A-Bear further charges no venue hire and they let you bring your own decor, catering and cake. We were good-to-go!
