How To Have A Fun Birthday For Your Baby
Keep it short. Most moms would recommend setting a firm time frame for your little ones big day, no more than two hours, or enough time to do a fun activity or two, have the cake, and open presents. Babys parties dont always need to be day-long events, and other parents at the party will be grateful.
Try not to schedule the start time of the party during a typical naptime. Nothing ruins a party like a cranky baby who is in need of a nap.

If you are looking to get out of the Austin city limits for a little R& R, Pace Bend Park is just a short drive north-west of town. Pace Bend Park sits on the shore of Lake Travis which is a popular destination for swimming, boating, and watersports. Pace Bend has primitive camping sites as well as RV hookups, so all campers are welcome. The park is dog friendly, as long as they are kept on leash.

McKinney Falls State Park is one of the hottest tourist spots in Austin.
In the summertime, this is quite literal temperatures can climb high in Texas, so people flock to the streams and pools of state parks to get a little relief.
In terms of activities, however, McKinney Falls State Park is still pretty hot.
It boasts more than 80 campsites, and youll have the option of sleeping under the stars or living the life of luxury in a wooden cabin.
You can also swim, fish, hike, bike, picnic, bird watch and even geocache.
Amenities are available if you want them.
Otherwise, you can enjoy the rugged natural beauty of McKinney Falls State Park by exploring it in your own way.

Spending time Zilker Park is one of my favorite things to do in Austin! Grab some food to-go and enjoy it at Zilker. Its the perfect place to people watch and see so many cute puppies!
Cool Off In Barton Springs
Barton Springs in Austin is a set of four natural water springs located in Barton Creek. During a hot summer day, Barton Springs is the place to be.
Paddle Board on Lady Bird Lake
Another one of my favorite things to do in Austin and something that should be on your Austin itinerary! Rent paddle boards at SUP ATX or you could even kayak if paddle boarding isnt for you. This is the perfect way to spend a hot afternoon in Austin and get in a little exercise as well!
Walk Along Town Lake Trail
This is a very popular 10-mile trail in the city of Austin. Grab a coffee and chat with your friends or go for a morning run!

Can’t Recommend It Enough
I’m local, so I’ll be back. I took my mom on a 9 a.m. vaguely-themed YBG tour because it was her birthday and we had guests coming in to town and she still hasn’t been downtown much. I expected the usual high points, just on a bike, and that would have been cool. What I got was a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide who took us on a tour that was an awesome combination of the usual high points and some fascinating side trips. We went places that I didn’t know existed and had a blast. So, two thumbs up. And I would think this tour would be fine for almost anyone — I drove because my mom gets nervous, but we were on easily operated, well maintained bikes and took safe, medium-traffic routes, and she totally could’ve handled it as well. Our fellow tour takers varied from college students on Spring break to, well, my mom. So anyone would enjoy it. And it’s a pretty good deal for 2ish hours of really good guidance. This is one of several secret bars in Austin, situated in a stone shed behind Clive Bar near Rainey Street. The tiny bar serves handcrafted cocktails made from Ilegal Mezcal, a Mexican liquor made from agave plants. The mezcal features smoky flavors, making for some unique cocktails that are one of a kind.

Go Climbing Or Bouldering
There are no worries about the weather when you take your climbing indoors. Get a serious workout at the Austin Bouldering Project, the worlds largest bouldering gym, featuring 250 rotating configurations across 50,000 square feet. Or head over to Crux Climbing Center, where everyone from newbies to experienced climbers find a challenge with bouldering and rope climbing activities. Or, opt outside at spots in Reimers Ranch Park and the Barton Creek Greenbelt.
Cruise Around On Lady Bird Lake
One of the best ways to check out Downtown Austin is from the water. Lady Bird Lake runs from the Westside of the city, all the way past Highway 35 into East Austin. The water is calm enough for a peaceful day trip or a sunset paddle. Be sure to bring your beverage of choice and a waterproof camera or ziplock bag for your phone youre going to want to take pictures!
The Rowing Dock is located on the Southern shore of the lake just West of MoPac , and they offer a wide selection of kayaks, canoes, and Stand Up Paddle-boards for rental.

Watch The Bats Fly Out From The Congress Bridge
Wondering why there are hundreds of people standing at Congress Bridge at sunset? Over 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats fly out from the Congress Avenue Bridge almost every night. Austin has the largest urban bat colony! Its a pretty incredible sight to watch the bat colony fly out thats worth standing for.
Walk over to the Mexic-Arte Museum to see an evolving collection of traditional and contemporary Mexican, Latino and Latin American art .
Koko Tip: Go to P6 at the Line Hotel to watch the bats fly out with a cocktail.
