Many people visit Kennedy Space Center with kids and only have a few hours to spare. Rest assured, you can still experience amazing things to do at Kennedy Space Center in an afternoon. But you wont be able to see everything. The two biggest experiences are the bus tour and the Space Shuttle Atlantis exhibit. The bus tour alone takes about two hours, and combined with the Saturn V Rocket Center, can be done in about three hours. The Space Shuttle Atlantis exhibit could be rushed through in about an hour and a half. If you limit yourself to these major attractions and push your way through them quickly , you can do Kennedy Space Center in half-a-day.

The Kennedy Space Center bus tour is included with your general admission ticket. The bus tour at Kennedy Space Center is about two hours long. The tour takes you across the sprawling complex and through some of the most iconic locations of the space center. Lucky visitors may even get a chance to see the Crawlers. These monstrous trucks that look like a moving building are used to transport space ships and heavy equipment throughout the complex. They zip along at a top speed of 1 MPH, so you cant miss them. Make sure you set the time aside for the bus tour. Its one of the greatest experiences for families at Kennedy Space Center. And its the only way to get to the Saturn V Center.

Circumstances may not be allowing visitors to experience these exhibits firsthand, but Studies Weekly has produced a virtual field trip of the Kennedy Space Center that takes you on a tour of its halls so that even from home you can enjoy the many wonders of the Space Age.

Kennedy Space Center: A Refreshing Alternative To Theme Parks
One thing I love about our area is how close we are in all directs to so many great family destinations. Our family is always looking for quick weekend getaways around Jacksonville that wont break the bank or cause a lot of stress. In addition to searching for new and undiscovered spots, we always focus on three main criteria for our weekend trips: proximity, affordability and entertainment.
For Labor Day, we decided on Kennedy Space Center, located in Cape Canaveral. Close enough to Jacksonville we got there in less than three hours, even stopping to eat the Space Center is situated about 20 minutes east of I-95 near Titusville. Proximity? Check.
While accommodations in the area are quite affordable , entry into the Space Center is a bit pricey. Adult tickets are $50 and children are $40, with no Florida resident discount. Once the sticker shock diminished, we resided to buy the tickets and take snacks to avoid extra in-park costs. Affordability? Eh. However, the entertainment factor is where Kennedy Space Center really shines as well as justifies the drive and ticket prices. From the main entrance, visitors are taken on an imaginative journey, almost literally to the moon!
That being said, dont expect roller coasters, dancing astronauts or kiddy rocket rides. They dont have any of it. Their cartoonish attractions are limited to a pretty large covered Childrens Playdome and an Angry Birds Space Encounter play area.
Relax And Unwind On Your Birthday

There are several cafes and restaurants at Kennedy Space Center so visitors wont go hungry. Visitors are also allowed to bring in a small soft-sided cooler. This means that you can save some money by bringing in drinks and snacks. I recommend bringing a reusable water bottle as well to avoid creating unnecessary plastic trash.
