On Thursday, Build-a-Bear offered an apology to its customers and a voucher to help soothe the hurt.
At some stores, customers handed out $15 off discount vouchers to customers turned away when lines were cut off during Pay Your Age Day, or to parents who were not willing to continue waiting in the long lines. Vouchers were also made available to Bonus Club members in the U.S. and Canada who logged into their accounts before midnight on Sunday, July 15.
Vouchers related to the event will be honored through Aug. 31, Build-a-Bear said.
The company released a news release later Thursday acknowledging that its Pay Your Age Day promotion generated an overwhelming response, resulting in long lines, extensive waits and disappointed guests.
We feel it is important to share that, based on the information available to us before the day began, we could not have predicted this reaction to our Pay Your Age Day event. We understand that many guests were turned away as, due to safety concerns created by the crowds, authorities in certain locations closed Build-A-Bear stores and, in other locations, we were forced to limit the line. Unfortunately, given these circumstances, we were unable to serve all of our guests for the Pay Your Age Day event.
Build-a-Bear also used the apology/explanation as an opportunity to tout the $15 off vouchers as well as its Count Your Candles promotion.

Ages ago I remember eating at a buffet with my family and kids would eat for a penny a pound. Thats a pound as in the kids weight. There was literally a scale next to the register and kids would weigh in! I was always underweight as a child, so in 5th grade my family only had to pay 50 cents for me to eat. Quite the deal! I havent seen a deal quite like that one until now. Well, kind of like it. This Thursday at Build-A-Bear youll be able to get a furry friend for the price of your age. Can you imagine kids having to weigh in these days? Oh my. I like the pay your age idea much better. Especially as an adult. My Build-A-Bear will only be $39 instead of my weight being Well, no need to do the figuring on that!

Other stores, overwhelmed by hundreds of people awaiting the sale, shut down before they opened, citing “safety concerns.”
To avoid that catastrophe, Build-A-Bear is staggering guests in three-day windows to visit the store. Guests with winning tickets will be assigned a date range to visit their Build-A-Bear store: June 24-26 or June 26-28.

A MUM has shared how to save money on your kids birthday presents – and its super simple.
She says not enough mums know about the hack, and commenters agree its amazing.
Tiktok user shared the hack with her followers and quickly went viral for her amazing strategy.
In the video, she says: This is super random but I feel like not enough moms know about this. Build-A-Bear can be super expensive.
But during your childs birth month, you actually only have to pay their age. So, lets say theyre turning one, you only pay $1.
In the UK, of course, if your child is turning one, you only pay £1 for their birthday bear.
You do have to pay more for the costume for your childs bear – but this mum has another great hack for saving money where this is concerned.

Her hack is completely confirmed on the Build-A-Bear website, which states that the Count Your Candles offer is available across all UK stores and outlets.
The offer has actually got even better in recent weeks – if your child had a birthday in lockdown, the team at Build-A-Bear will allow them to use the Count Your Candles promotion retrospectively.
That means you can use the promotion for any child who missed their birthday celebration between March 2020 and now.

Once youre there, your child will get to count their candles until they reach the age theyre turning and thats what youll pay for a Birthday Treat Bear! No proof of age or identification is needed, but a registered Build-A-Bear Canada Bonus Club member must be there.
A Birthday Treat Bear usually costs $14, and theyre only available in stores while quantities last. The minimum price is $1 , and its open to children under 14 years of age.

How Much Is It To Add A Scent To A Build
Scents can be added to a Build-A-Bear stuffed animal for an additional $3.
One of the things you can do to make your Build-A-Bear more special and personal is to add a scent of your choosing.
You can choose from a variety of options.
The scents come in the form of hard pieces of plastic that are shaped like different objects.
Sometimes the shapes are random, and sometimes they match the scent.
When you make your bear, you can choose the type of scent you want to add to the bear and then put it inside when you stuff it.
Build-A-Bear does not require a scent, but it is an option for all customers.
Build-A-Bear scents are designed to last for at least six months.
Since they are put inside the stuffed animals with the stuffing, the scent comes from the inside out whenever the animal is moved or hugged.
Some scents are stronger than others and might be more apparent longer or may simply last longer.
The more a bear is played with or hugged, the faster the scent will wear down.
Washing the Build-A-Bear animals can also make the scent disappear faster.
Build-A-Bear Scents can be replaced when they lose their fragrance, but you will need to take your animal back to your nearest Build-A-Bear store and buy a new scent.
The bear can be opened up, and the new scent can be added to replace the original.
