Capture The Flag Nerf Game
To give a little structure to the Nerf War, we played the game Capture the Flag. While the kids are eating pizza, hide two different color bandannas or flags.
Split the kids up into two teams. Each team will be searching for a specific color flag. Make sure to show the kids what the flag looks like before you hide it.
When the game starts, kids will use their bases for cover. When they run out to search for the flag, the other team is able to shoot at the kids that are searching.
If a participant is hit, they have to go back to their base and start over. I also put boxes with more bullets out in two places as refill stations.
Whichever team finds the other teams flag first wins the game.
Depending on how long the game takes, you can play it again or take a break for cake while you hide the flags for the next round.
After the second game, we ask the kids if they just want to run around or play capture the flag again. If you would like to change to a different game for the second round check out more Fun Nerf Gun Game Ideas.
We usually invite parents who want to also play to come a little bit early for pick up and join in the fun. The kids love it when the parents play and its great for the parents, too.
If your kids like playing Fortnite make the Nerf Party into a Fortnite Birthday Party theme with just a few tweaks.
When the party is done, if all the boxes arent destroyed, we usually keep a few for the kids to play with at a later time.
Tissue Paper Nerf Target
From Holy Craft
For this fun Nerf party game, youll be making a tissue paper Nerf target.
Youll need tissue paper , black paper plates, and a black frame. Additionally, youll need a paper punch, tape and string to finalize construction.
Begin by cutting out the center of the paper plates. Cut squares of tissue paper that will cover the hole and tape them to the back of your plates.
Punch holes from which you can attach string for hanging from the frame. As targets are hit, replace with more tissue paper.
Nerf Themed Party: The Basics
Hosting a NERF themed party may initially seem a little intimidating. But remember: all youll need is a backyard, a few supplies, and lots of creativity. I will share with you lots of fun and easy ideas for an Amazing Nerf Gun Party.

Pallet Battlement For Nerf Games
If you want an even simpler, less resource-dependent set-up then consider building some of these pallet battlements!
Theyre super straightforward and easy to build, all you need to do is nail them together to represent a defensive wall/battlement and put them on both ends of the backyard. And boom! Youve got two effective bases for your Nerf party.
Lego Birthday Party Theme
What kid doesnt like to build with Legos? This party can be pretty easy to throw because there is so much to buy with this theme, you dont have to create as much yourself.
This is a pretty universal theme that should be fun for both girls and boys.

Party Decorations
Decorate with Primary colors in your balloons, table cloth, and streamers. You will also find tons of themed plates, napkins, and goody bags with Lego pictures on and at Dollar Tree.
Lego Cake Toppers
Add little Lego Men to the top of your cake as a quick decoration for Costco cakes or a cake you make yourself at home. If you add cupcakes use these cute stick Lego figure toppers.
Lego Game
For a fun Lego game, buy a bin of classic Lego pieces and give the kids a 10-minute challenge to build something. Then let them show it off to everyone. You could give prizes for the best creation or let them destroy it and build it again. Bonus: Your child has more Legos to play with after the party.
Lego Goody Bag
Depending on your budget, you could also buy small Lego sets or mini Lego party sets like animals or vehicles. If you buy a bigger set have the kids build it at the party for an activity. If you get the mini Lego party sets add them to your goody bags.

Where To Hold A Nerf Party
This is the first question to ask where should you hold it?
Obviously, unless you have a huge basement, you will probably not want to hold it indoors. That would just be a recipe for disaster (unless you dont have any Nerf gun shootingbut what fun is that?
If the weather is going to be nice outside, just hold it in your backyard or at a local park. That will give you plenty of room for the kids to run around.
Jacks birthday is at the beginning of March, and where we live, this can mean super cold and snowy or really nice out. We played it safe and reserved our churchs gym, which was free. If you have access to a gym thats free or inexpensive, thats a great option, too.
Print Out Some Targets
Our orange and blue printable targetsdidnt actually get used as much as I thought they would, but they did look festive! My son hung them up on our fence with some tape.
Ive also seen people print targets and tape them to popsicle sticks so theyll stand up as decor on a table. Either way, its a festive addition to the theme!

Hide And Seek Nerf Challenge
Add a little twist to hide and seek and bring the Nerf guns to work.
Each player will have a nerf gun.
Players hide from the seeker and get two bullets each to try and shoot the seeker before they shoot them.
You can set a timer for everyone to hide.

Engage guests at your Nerf party in a Nerf wars battle.
You can DIY the battlefield by getting creative with upcycled wood pallets, stacked tires, water barrels and wood.
Adding coordinating paint and vinyl Nerf logos to the various battlefield features can really make the party come alive.
And dont forget to add targets all over the war zone for shooting practice.
Special Day Out Party

Nerf Games Obstacle Course
Having an obstacle course using your backyard playground is such a fun idea for nerf games to play during a birthday party. The great thing about an obstacle course is that you can do as much or as little as you want. During this party, the party guests played Capture the Flag, two on two, as thier Nerf party game. I am blown away at the cardboard barricades supported by wooden stakes put together with a staple gun. So cool!

Shooting Range For Nerf Party
This awesome shooting range only takes a little bit of finessing, plus paper plates, string, and two wooden stakes.
But it makes a great practice range before you start the more difficult team games, and its a perfect spot for younger siblings and children who might be too young to play Capture the Flag and other combative games.
What Is Better Than An Action
This Nerf Themed Birthday Party is perfect for any little guy who cant get enough of some epic Nerf gun battles! This little guy has a birthday in the middle of winter, so an outdoor party isnt on the forefront due to weather. But thanks to The Greystone Recreation Center, indoor fun was just around the corner!
Jessica George Weddings & Events got to work at the perfect venue for this Nerf themed party. It was a great place to host the event, since it had a separate party room, along with an indoor park and a rock-climbing wall.
Custom balloons and an amazing arch over the dessert table were provided by Jujabel, which were an amazing focal point at the birthday celebration! With the Nerf color palette of white, yellow, orange, red, blue, green, grey and black, it looked like all of the guests were ready to enter a Nerf gun war as soon as they walked into the venue!
The dessert table was incredible! A delicious nerf-themed cake was provided by Artylicious Cakes, while cookies and other treats were made by Casianna Brown Collections. We love that nerf-themed cake, complete with a bullseye on top for the cake topper! Homemade pizza and wings were catered by Lillian Suarez Weddings and Events and all of the guests couldnt wait to dig in.
Awesome nerf decor was found at Party City, along with vests and nerf guns purchased from Amazon. It was the ultimate DIY celebration with tons of fun indoor activities to occupy the kids. The party was a hit!

Run The Nerf Gauntlet
Give the birthday girl or boy a little more attention with this game.
The birthday boy or girl has to run the gauntlet while everyone else stands at a distance shooting at them as they run to the other end.
Be sure to space them out a bit, wear safety goggles, and remember the rules to avoid anyone getting hurt.

This is a great party for the little ones who love Cars Movie or just cars in general. All the Cars Movie Characters have different personalities you can use for your party. If your child likes one character the best, use that one as your main theme.
