Keepers say Omo is a little ball of adventure and love taking care of him! Some of his favorite things to do include wallowing. Recently weve seen him laying down in muddy puddles and sort of rolling around. Hes even been chewing in the mud a bit. We think he might be teething some just like some human babies do so he might have some test coming in. So hes been chewing on some hard objects you see around the zoo like boulders and logs, says Waugh.

Birthday Party Venue: A Wildnight Sleepover At Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

Most of our birthday celebrations tend to be pretty low-key and low-cost, usually dinner and cake with family and a few close friends. But there are a few birthdays that are kind of a big deal and turning 10 years old DOUBLE DIGITS! is one of them. My animal-loving son decided to celebrate this special birthday with a WildNight Sleepover at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

A WildNight sleepover is a ten-hour event that lets you experience the zoo in a whole new way. The evening kicks off at 6:00 PM with pizza and s’mores, followed by a guided zoo tour which includes a giraffe feeding and an up-close encounter with one or more animals in The Loft.

Yup, my kiddo wanted to get up close with a millipede!

Getting to explore the zoo after hours was incredibly fun. Not only did we avoid the crowds, but we learned so much about each animal on our stop. Our knowledgeable guide gave us information about the animals in general, told us what we could do to help make a difference for the animals on the Endangered Species list, and entertained us with stories about the animals living at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

Zaayds 1 Year Birthday Party At Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

Had a good time doing photography for little Zaayds birthday party at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo this summer! Hes a total little stud! His family flew in from New York City grandparents, uncle, aunts! Very loving, fun family. Although I do event photography, portraits will always be my favorite thing, so I of coursed loved capturing these ones before the party with his family!

The party at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo was really neat. They brought in a turtle for kids to interact with, and they got to go a petting zoo, feed some wild hogs, and of course the crazy giraffes, which are always fun!!

The carousel portraits I got of the birthday boy were some of my favorites. Just so cute!

Had a little set up for the cake cutting outside! To the right is a cute tiger cake, but Zaayd wasnt quite as into the idea of a cake smash as we would have guessed. )

COLORADO SPRINGS Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has thrown giraffe, Viv, her second birthday party.

Viv was born two days after the Fourth of July, on July 6, 2019. Her parents are Msitu and Khalid.

According to the zoo, just six hours after she was born, Viv famously leap-frogged over Msitus back , gaining an adorable reputation as independent, strong and super-charged.

The zoos partner, Childrens Hospital Colorado, is also celebrating the terrific twos! They celebrated the ceremonial ribbon cutting of southern Colorados first pediatric-only hospital, in Colorado Springs, on July 17, 2019.

Knowing our Viv, were stepping into the Terrific Twos, and shell continue to keep us on our toes as she has from day one, said Amy Schilz, senior lead keeper in African Rift Valley, and Vivs primary trainer. This girl has become known for her adorable antics, like running after the cranes and guinea fowl in the yard, or stretching to reach a tree we didnt intend to be giraffe food. Pretty much any time we get a radio call that one of the giraffe is up to something, we know its probably Viv!

Zookeepers said Viv used to prefer to be alone but that has changed since 2-year-old Ohe, 9-month-old BB and 3-year-old Panya joined the herd. Vivs keepers say she has come out of her shell with guests and the herd, since her three besties have boosted her confidence.
